One year has passed from publication of the article in Narodnaya Gazeta. Over this year OOO NPF «UralSpetsArmatura» produced one million meters of composite non-metallic reinforcing elements which made it possible to erect over 100 few residential buildings, make coast-protection construction and to manufacture hundreds of road slabs.
At present our company produces glass- and basalt-reinforced plastic reinforcing elements 4- 14 mm in diameter and of any length. They combine high strength (three times higher than that of A-III class steel) and corrosion resistance equal to that of stainless steel. The cost of composite reinforcing elements is 30% lower than the cost of steel bars [rods], and their weight is 9 times lower.
Technical characteristics of composite reinforcing elements allow the use of these elements in construction of buildings, highway engineering, strengthening of road pavements, bases and slopes, and coast protection.
The Scientific Research Institute of Concrete and Reinforced Concrete (NIIZHB) named after A.A. Gvizdev, Moscow , worked out specifications (TU (Specs) 5769-248-35354501-2007) and gave technical recommendations (TR 013-1-04) for the use of composite non-metallic reinforcing elements.
Use of composite non-metallic reinforcing elements results in reduction in prices of building construction , because the non-metallic reinforcing elements have less diameter as compared to metallic ones. Besides, their lower weight makes it possible to save money through reduction in delivery and handling expenses.
Due to the fact that these elements are corrosion resistant they help to prolong the service life of constructions and to reduce and avoid expensive repair work.
